Walking Wenches
Kingshill Ramble - 16th October 2015
Nine of us met at the Full Moon in Little Kingshill for our autumn walk on a rather overcast but dry day. Before setting off we ordered our lunches which would be ready for us on our return, an incentive if one was needed.
The walk took us through fields and woodland and on the way we encountered a whole range of farm animals including llamas and alpaca, the latter showing interest in us from a distance but a reluctance to come nearer for a close-up photograph so you’ll have to take our word for it that those woolly bundles with long necks in the background are indeed camelids!
The countryside was beginning to take on its autumn mantle of yellow and orange and in the hedgerows nature’s store cupboard provided holly berries, sloes, hips, elderberries, sweet chestnuts and crab apples in readiness for winter.
Our route took us through Peterley Farm and Pick-Your-Own where Christmas trees and earthy orange pumpkins reminded us of forthcoming celebrations and although a coffee in their yurt café was a tempting thought we pressed on for the final leg with darkening skies and an increasing breeze. Back at the Full Moon we were soon enjoying liquid refreshments before tucking in to plates of delicious and very welcome food.
Fresh air, great company, good food and friendly chatter; if you couldn’t make it this time why not join us for our next walk?
